It's not you, it's your brows.

When my mother was alive, I never admired her personal style. I never asked her for makeup tips, in fact, I teased her for her love of drawing on her eyebrows. GASP! I am certain she is in heaven shaking her head at me and my love of drag queen brows. Sorry ma! But Tui is quite the opposite. She compliments my style, she loves to watch me put on makeup, we wear our hair in similar styles (if not the exact same style), we love the same types of shoes (she actually wears my same size now!), etc.

When it came to designing her new room, we were both excited and on the same level as far as ideas. We love the same color combos (black and white palettes for life!), we love gold, we love modern design, etc. So we decided on a color theme of neons and neutrals. We are so inspired by this color combo and it makes us happy (yes us, I might move in to her room).

1/2/3
Currently, the plan is to paint her entire room white with maybe one accent wall. We're still on the fence about the accent wall. But then we'll bring in pops of color via her bedding, lighting, decor, etc. There may even be a few crochet projects in our future!

Tui has completely cleared out her room (I'm scared to ask where she put everything) and we're ready to get this party started. We'll be tackling the walls first so this week we plan on shopping for some paint.

TESTING TESTING 1, 2, 3.

MY DAD WAS AN ELECTRICIAN. HE WAS ALSO A SOUNDMAN (IS THAT A THING?). I CAN HEAR HIS VOICE AS HE'S TESTING HIS MICS, "TESTING, TESTING, 1, 2, 3. *TAP TAP*." OVER AND OVER TESTING, TAP, TESTING TAP UNTIL IT WAS JUST RIGHT. MY DAD WAS A PERFECTIONIST WHEN IT CAME TO HIS CRAFT. I THINK I WAS BLESSED (AND CURSED) WITH THAT TRAIT I INHERITED FROM HIM.

I HAVE THIS PROBLEM WHERE I COLLECT HOBBIES. FULL DISCLOSURE: I'M A HOBBIE HOARDER. GASP. MY MIND AND SOUL ARE FIGURATIVELY OVERFLOWING WITH HOBBIES. SOME I'VE TRIED, SOME I'VE MASTERED, SOME ARE ON MY TO-DO LIST, ETC. AGAIN I SAY, IT'S A PROBLEM. WITH THAT SAID, I PLAN TO ADD TO THAT MESS. #TEAMOVERACHIEVERS

MY DAUGHTER, TUISELINA (AKA TUI, SELINA, LINA, THE GIRL), HAS BEEN WANTING TO PAINT HER ROOM. OVER A YEAR AGO WE BOUGHT SOME PAINT SAMPLES AND SLAPPED THEM ON HER WALLS. THEN WE LEFT THEM TO DRY...FOR A YEAR. I AM NOW CONFIDENT THE PAINT IS DRY AND WE'RE READY TO TACKLE THEM FOR REAL. BUT MY #TEAMOVERACHIEVERS HEART COULDN'T JUST SLAP ON SOME PAINT AND CALL IT A DAY. OH NO, WE'RE GOING FULL MONTY HERE. I'M TALKING FULL ON BEDROOM MAKEOVER.

SO, HERE'S THE PLAN. JOKES, I'M NOT THAT PUT TOGETHER GUYS. I DON'T HAVE A PLAN OTHER THAN:

  1. WE'RE GIVING TUI'S ROOM A FULL MAKEOVER
  2. WE'LL DOCUMENT THE ENTIRE PROCESS VIA BLOGGING AND MAYBE INSTAGRAM (OH, DID I MENTION I ALSO HOARD BLOGS?)
  3. WE'VE PICKED A DESIGN THEME
THAT'S IT. THAT'S ALL WE KNOW, FOR NOW. BUT I THINK IT'S A GOOD START. WE HOPE YOU'LL FOLLOW ALONG WITH US ON THIS JOURNEY BECAUSE WE'LL NEED AN OCCASIONAL WOOT-WOOT-YOU-GOT-THIS-YOU-DA-BOMB WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT.

OVER AND OUT.

PS I KNOW THIS POST IS LONG AND PICTURELESS BUT I PROMISE TO TAKE AND POST LOTS OF PICS AS WE GO ALONG.
